Data Collection

What data collection methods were used?

  • AIMSWeb math fact fluency (quantitative)

  • Topic math tests (quantitative)

  • Students Interviews (qualitative)

Why?​

  • I chose to give pre and post tests for every math unit I taught during my 7 week implementation. The pre test allowed me to differentiate my small group instruction so that my students could be introduced to a new topic at the appropriate skill level. The post test was used to see if the average score increased from the baseline 76% average.

  • My AIMSWeb data identified which students were struggling in math fact fluency.

  • My interview indicated the degree to which their number sense was impacting their math fact fluency.  Depending on how the student learned to add and subtract often impacted their ability to add and subtract quickly.
